When Nike Basketball announced its "Opening Night" collection last week, there was one player who was conspicuously absent: Kyrie Irving.
With Irving currently nursing an injury to his left knee, the Nike Kyrie 1 wasn't included in the tip-off pack, but that doesn't mean the signature sneaker has been shelved for good. Previewed today is a new "Double Nickel" colorway that was originally planned to be included amongst the other "Opening Night" sneakers.
This makeup serves as a homage to Irving's 55-point showing against the Portland Trail Blazers last January, with silver detailing and medallions with Irving's face and logo on each tongue.
Before Nike moves onto the Kyrie 2, it'll drop this "Double Nickel" colorway exclusively in China on November 11. A U.S. release has not been announced, but will likely follow in the coming weeks.
